William Buckingham Outstanding Resident Award Winner Ryan Siewert, MD
Ryan Siewert was born and raised in Grand Forks, North Dakota. He graduated from Red River High School is 2002. He attended and graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of North Dakota in 2007. He then attended medical school at UND. He did his clinical training in numerous cities across North Dakota, including Williston, Minot, Grand Forks, and Fargo. He also received medical school training in Montana and Minnesota. Ryan graduated from medical school in 2011. He recently completed his Family Medicine residency in Bismarck at the UND Center for Family Medicine.
He met his wife, Abby, in 2007 while in medical school. They were married in 2010. Abby graduated from the UND School of Law in 2011 at the same time Ryan graduated from medical school. They have one son Elijah, who is almost one year old. After residency, Ryan and his family will be relocating to Williston, ND where Ryan will start in a Family Medicine practice and Abby, an attorney and a Williston native, will join a local law firm.
Ryan has many interests in medicine, specifically preventive medicine, rural health, and health care in North Dakota. He was one of the first medical students at UND to be given the ‘Rural Med Scholarship’, which is awarded to students who will practice at rural locations across the state of North Dakota.
